the equipment
TECAR stands for "Transfer of Energy Capacitive and Resistive". It is a non-invasive way to send energy frequencies through the body to promote its natural ability to regenerate cells. The therapist wears bracelets specifically made and trademarked by Winback that allow frequencies to flow through the therapist's hands and into the patient wherever they touch. The patient will also have skin contact with a metal plate that functions as a conductor. When the therapist makes contact with the patient's area of concern, energy frequencies flow through, affecting the cells in between, promoting speedy tissue recovery. The patient feels a comfortable warm sensation through the therapist's hands -- a similar feeling to a hot stone massage.

the science
Tecar is a high frequency alternating current that increases permittivity of the cell membrane. The energy current has a diathermic effect on living tissue at frequencies between 300kHz-1200kHz, according to scientific studies. The electromagnetic interaction between the tissue fabrics within this frequency range causes a subtly perceptible thermal sensation which feels like a soft but penetrating warmth. The cells in our bodies naturally want to expel waste and regenerate healthy tissue, and with the increase in permeability of plasma membranes and the diathermic effect on tissue from utilizing Tecar, the tissue cells have an increased ability to make intra- and extra-cellular exchanges. Tecar is a proven way to speed up recovery by introducing energy frequencies in localized areas of the body, temporarily inducing a cellular environment ideal for natural tissue self-regeneration. Different types of connective tissue have different resistance levels, so the frequency from the Tecar is controlled to reach the specific tissue we are intending to affect.
the history
The history of Tecar therapy starts with Jacques Arsène d’Arsonval, a famous doctor and also a French physicist and inventor. In 1890, he discovered the beneficial effects on permeability of plasma membranes with frequencies above 100kHz. In 1939, William Beaumont, an English doctor and physicist worked on diathermy with physiotherapy equipments using capacitive and resistive modes of application -- frequencies of around 500kHz. In the 1980's, scientist developed uses for high frequency currents in esthetic medicines. By 1995, most scientific publications on TECAR and diathermy were done out of Italy. In the late 2000's, the MEDIMOUV Company developed the first instantiations of TECAR equipment for healing, made for the French élite. In less than 2 years, starting in April 2013, WINBACK came out with more than 400 installations of equipment, ranging from 300kHz to 1MKhz, allowing providers to target a range of tissues for targeted healing.
TECAR has been used and studied for over 125 years, but has primarily not been widely accessible to the general public, especially in the United States. We are excited to offer top-quality, state-of-the-art equipment utilized by our experts at North Mesa Performance Chiropractic, so that our friends and neighbors can also experience the outstanding benefits of TECAR.
